The problem

The stations on the line operated without any awareness of each other, so a stoppage at one station cascaded through the whole line. Operators could only locate a fault by physically inspecting the line, which stretched out response times and left production losses unreported.

The solution

We brought every station onto a common communication network and built a centralised PLC architecture. Through SCADA, the entire line became visible on a single screen, with alarm management, downtime-cause logging and per-station energy metering. Drives were re-parameterised to cut the consumption of motors running idle.
