The problem
Every time the product size changed, the machine's mechanical settings had to be adjusted by hand, which meant long changeover times and high scrap. When the line speed was increased, cutting accuracy broke down.
The solution
We replaced the mechanical cam assembly with servo axes and defined the motion profiles as recipes on the PLC. The operator now simply selects the product type from the HMI and the machine reconfigures itself within seconds. Thanks to electronic camming, cutting accuracy holds even at high speed.
